Manuel Pellegrini ‘Delighted’ With Real Madrid’s Victory Against FC Zurich

FBL-C1-VILLARREAL Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini said he was “delighted” after his side beat Swiss champions FC Zurich 5-2, in their first UEFA Champions League Group C game at the Letizigrund stadium in Zurich.

Pellegrini admitted that the Swiss side took him by surprise and suggested that they raised their game because it was against Madrid.

“I leave very happy. The team has learned and has escaped from a tough game in Zurich. I didn’t expect such a hard team, but it’s their debut in the competition and against a team like Madrid,” Pellegrini said, according to Marca.

On the whole Pellegrini declared himself “very satisfied” with the outcome but was not impressed by the performance of English referee Martin Atkinson, who brandished yellow cards to two Zurich players and six Blancos.

He continued, “The team is committed to the project. They improve every day and it is a luxury to be in charge of real madrid. the quality of the players is unquestionable,” he siad.

“I don’t like to talk about referees. There was too much violence and a lot of fouls but I like the team to forget about this and just play.”
