Mata Could Buy Out Valencia Contract To Complete Barcelona Move

Juan Mata Juan Mata could buy his own contract from Valencia for €20million and then move to Barcelona in the next seven days as los Che seek to ease their financial worries once again, according to a report.

The 21-year-old forward has become a main target for the Blaugrana after coach Pep Guardiola confirmed that he expects one or two more players to join the club.

A left-sided midfielder is a priority, and Mata is seen as the ideal candidate to compete with Thierry Henry down the flank during the forthcoming season, Sport state.

Mata’s father, Juan Manuel Mata, also acts as his agent and has made it clear that he and his son are flattered by Barca’s interest and want to know what Valencia would do if a bid was made.

The Spain international is one of the lowest paid players at Mestalla for his status as he earns €600,000-per-year and negotiations are being planned to revise his contract.

But Valencia know that they may need finances to ease their financial problems again after a recent development means that they are not as secure as the directors had recently stated.

While Mata’s buy-out clause is €60million, it is believed that the club would accept €20million, and if they are not willing to do business with Barcelona then the player may buy his own contract.

Relations between Valencia and Barca are not good after the David Villa saga, but Mata could pay €20million, with the help of the agency Traffic, and then be reimbursed by the Blaugrana.
