Brazil U-20 2-1 Germany U-20: Extra-Time Win Thanks To Maicon Brace For Selecao

Brazil U 20Brazil Under 20 fought back to reach the semi-finals of the the Under 20 World Cup in Egypt after Germany late a late lead slip.

It was an even, entertaining fixture, but one in which poor finishing was the order of the day in a game necessitating extra time.

Brazil more than once paid the price for profligacy in the first half, with German goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler looking impressive otherwise.

Despite seeing less of the ball Germany eventually grabbed the lead seventeen minutes from time through Schalke’s Lewis Holtby, who got on the end of an Aydilek cross to nod home.

But with just two minutes remaining, Maicon scored his first goal of the tournament, confidently rolling the ball into the bottom corner.

Two minutes after extra-time began, the Fluminense man netted the final goal of the game with a one-on-one finish amidst some poor defending.

Brazil now face the winners of UAE-Costa Rica for the chance to face either Ghana or Hungary in the semi-final on October 13.
