Argentina Star Lionel Messi’s Presence Is Vital To The World Cup
‘The Kaiser’ believes the pressure is beginning to get to ‘El Diez’, but he thinks that it is imperative that Argentina overcome their current blip for the good of next summer’s tournament.
Franz Beckenbauer, who won the 1974 World Cup as a player before lifting the trophy in 1990 as West Germany’s manager, believes that Lionel Messi must be among those in South Africa next summer.
Argentina are currently struggling to qualify for the World Cup and face Peru on Saturday in their penultimate qualifying match, for which Diego Maradona has asked for divine help. ‘The Kaiser’ added that this is a sign of the pressure on the coach’s shoulders.
“There cannot be a World Cup without a player like Like Messi,” Beckenbauer said .
“The ridicule of not being in the World Cup is threatening Argentina. Diego Maradona must now demonstrate that those who doubt him are wrong.
“I saw how Maradona publicly asked for God’s help. The pressure is almost inhuman.”
Los Albicelestes play Peru, who are already eliminated, on Saturday night.
