Manuel Pellegrini Omits Cristiano Ronaldo From Real Madrid Squad To Face Sevilla
Coach Manuel Pellegrini has announced his squad to face los Rojiblancos, and the Portuguese superstar does not feature in it due to his ankle injury.
Ronaldo picked up the injury in midweek against Olympique Marseille, but while the club’s medical staff believed he had a good chance to play on Sunday, Pellegrini is not taking the risk.
The international break will also have been a factor, and the Blancos coach may request that Ronaldo stays in Madrid to continue his recovery rather than join the rest of the Portugal squad for their World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Christoph Metzelder has returned to the squad while Rafael van der Vaart has also been selected.
Real Madrid squad to face Sevilla: Iker Casillas, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Diarra, Raul, Kaka, Benzema, Marcelo, Dudek, Guti, Drenthe, Albiol, Garay, Higuain, Metzelder, Xabi Alonso, van der Vaart, Granero.
