Arsene Wenger Full Of Praise For Goalkeeper Vito Mannone After Fulham Win

Vito-mannone-action-1-300x243Arsenal ended their losing streak by defeating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage.

Robin Van Persie sealed all three points for the Gunners against a determined Fulham side.

Arsene Wenger was happy with his side’s performance, particularly with stand-in goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

“It was a good performance in the second half especially,” Wenger told BBC Sport.

“Today I am very happy. We compensated for a lack of fluidity and cohesion with attitude, spirit and desire and, of course, it was a good display by Mannone.”

Wenger refused to jump to conclusions however, saying: “You go from game to game, you judge a goalkeeper by a longer number of games.

“He has shown he has quality and composure and has made good decisions but you do not reject the other goalkeepers.

“It was vital for us to come back and with Chelsea losing today, the Premier League became more compact again and that is interesting. We are in a strong position.”
