Gabriel Milito Set To Return For Barcelona In January
Milito suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a UEFA Champions League tie against Manchester United, in April 2008 and has not played since.
His 18-month lay-off has seen him undergo knee surgery in his native Argentina and Milito spent six months there during an arduous six-month physical recovery.
He has since returned to Barcelona and took part in a light training workout in Catalunya last week.
Having missed the entire treble winning season, Milito’s recovery would be seen as a virtual new signing for the club. Barring further setbacks he could be back in action after the winter break in January and coach Pep Guardiola says his turn will be one of the highlights of the season.
“One of the biggest stories of the year will be being able to say Gabriel Milito returns to the squad,” Guardiola was quoted as saying.
