We Will Qualify
Argentina confront a difficult mission to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa, but Lionel Messi, the star of the team, affirmed that he is confident that Argentina won’t miss out on the finals.
“Argentina will qualify. It is what we most want and we will fight for this,” said Messi, during a press conference on Wednesday.
Messi scored twice in Barcelona’s recent 4-1 drubbing of Racing Santander, and the Argentine was praised for his efforts.
It was another demonstration of his extraordinary form with Barcelona, but up until now he hasn’t been able to transmit this into the national team.
Messi recognised that there are differences: “One thing is Barcelona and the national team another.”
“I will try to improve my game in Argentina, because it isn’t the same as here…I will do this calmly.”
He also denied claims that he feels “more freedom” in Barcelona, than with Diego Maradona’s team.
Argentina are in fifth place of the South American World Cup qualifiers with 22 points. They will need to pick up positive results against Peru and Uruguay to remain with a chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
