Jens Lehmann Out With Injury

282875Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have received some disturbing news from the treatment table as experienced glovesman Jens Lehmann sustained an injury during Tuesday’s training session.

The 39-year-old began training with reserve team ‘keeper Thomas Walter and youth ‘keeper Bernd Leno, but Lehmann was forced to terminate his participation. The medical department confirmed a thoracic vertebrae blockage, which made further involvement impossible.

It’s not yet known for how long the former Germany international will be sidelined. Lehmann will undergo further examination on Wednesday to clarify the seriousness of his injury.

“Jens had a similar problem in the past. We are confident that he will be free of pain again soon and that he will promptly be able to return to full team training,” explained VfB medic Dr. Raymond Best on the club’s website.

Lehmann was to be rested for Wednesday’s DFB Pokal match against Luebeck in any case, but it seems he may be out of the first team for longer than anticipated.
