Ballardini: This Is Why Mauro Zarate Is Not Scoring Goals

Lazio coach Davide Ballardini has attempted to explain Mauro Zarate’s five month goal drought in Serie A, suggesting the forward needs to become more unselfish.

The Argentine hitman, who reportedly cost €20 million from Al-Sadd, has not scored in the league since April.
This season he has bagged just one goal, which came against Elfsborg in the Europa League.

Ballardini feels the highly-rated striker needs to get more involved with the rest of the squad, indicating that errors occur when he tries to do things for himself.

“It’s normal for a young player to go through highs and lows,” Ballardini said.

“He is trying hard to score, but he makes mistakes if he goes alone. He needs to try and score alongside his team-mates.”

Lazio clash with Parma on Wednesday night.
