Manchester United Showed Their ‘Power’ In Beating City – Sir Alex Ferguson

S A Ferguson Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he was relieved to beat Manchester City at Old Trafford this afternoon, but stated that the ‘power’ of his team was decisive.

The Red Devils won a thrilling game 4-3 with Michael Owen scoring a late winner in the sixth minute of added time for the champions.

Earlier in the game the Sky Blues had come from behind three times and looked set to secure a precious point before Owen’s intervention.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Ferguson bemoaned his side’s defending but admitted he was pleased to have won one of the most thrilling derbies of all time.

“We gave three goals away today,” explained the United boss.

“It could have been an embarrassment – we could have won 6-0 or 7-0 today.

“But in the end we still we won one of the best Manchester derbies.

“We have a neighbour, and sometimes neighbours are noisy, but we showed our power today and we get on with life.”
