Hopefully Alfio Basile Doesn’t Leave – Boca Midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme

The Boca Juniors playmaker believes the coach still has plenty to offer to the side.

Alfio Basile decided to resign as the coach of Boca Juniors after the devastating defeat to Godoy Cruz on Sunday, but it is believed that Carlos Bianchi and Juan Roman Riquelme convinced him in changing his mind.

Directors of the Argentine giants will also try to convince the coach to remain at the club until the end of the Argentine Apertura championship.

Riquelme, Boca’s most important player, affirmed that it would be best if “Coco remains in his position.”

“Here the one’s who are doing things badly are the players and not him. I know that he reunited with the manager [Bianchi] and hopefully he doesn’t leave,” said Riquelme.

Boca lost the game 3-2 against Godoy Cruz at the Bombonera stadium, and neither the players nor the coach made declarations to the press after the game.

The only person to speak to the press was the team doctor, who informed that Riquelme, Morel Rodriguez and Ricardo Noir picked up injuries.

Although Basile’s future has yet to be decided, there’s a great possibility that he will remain in his position until December.
