Ancelotti Desperate To Keep Cole & Anelka At Chelsea
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has urged the club to do their utmost to tie down Joe Cole and Nicolas Anelka to long-term deals.
Having been hit with a transfer ban that is in place until January 2011, the Blues will have to make use of their current crop of players.
Whilst the west London club are appealing the FIFA imposed ban, issued for the apparent inducement of Lens teenager Gael Kakuta back in 2007, they have been boosted by the likes of Ashley Cole, John Terry and Didier Drogba all putting pen to paper on lengthy contract extensions since the summer.
Although former Milan boss Ancelotti admits he isn’t involved when it comes down to contract negotiations, the 50-year-old has suggested that both Cole and Anelka need to remain at Chelsea for as long as possible.
“I don’t speak with the players about the contract,” Ancelotti is quoted as saying by The Sun.
“But for me Joe Cole is a very good player and he has to stay in the club and so does Nicolas Anelka.”
