Chelsea Keep Their Eyes On Roma’s Daniele De Rossi

Chelsea are following Roma’s Daniele De Rossi, despite their two year transfer ban.

According to The Daily Mail, Carlo Ancelotti is keen to keep tabs on the Italian international.

The report suggests De Rossi is pondering his future at the club because of Luciano Spalletti’s exit earlier this season. In addition, the club’s economic situation will make it difficult for them to challenge for major honours.

De Rossi was wanted by a number of sides this summer, including the Blues and Real Madrid. However, Roma rejected massive bids to keep him amid takeover proposals that failed to go through.

The player’s contract expires in 2012, a year after Chelsea’s transfer ban is up, but the English side are hoping their transfer punishment is reduced so they can move in sooner than that.

However, the Rome-born midfielder has always pledged allegiance to his hometown club.
