OFFICIAL: Zico Appointed As New Olympiacos Coach

Champions League hopefuls Olympiacos parted company with head coach Temur Ketsbaia on Tuesday, but the Greek powerhouse did not need too much time to find a replacement.

Olympiacos named Brazilian Zico as their new head coach in the build-up to their opening Uefa Champions League fixture against AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday evening. They then promptly won the game 1-0.
The former Brazilian international has signed a two-year contract at Olympiacos only one day after the departure of Temuri Ketsbaia.

Zico, who was confirmed as coach in time to watch Olympiacos kick off their Group H campaign at home to the Dutch champions, left PFC CSKA Moskva last Thursday after nine months in charge. The Brazilian will take over from caretaker boss Bozidar Bandovic on Thursday.

The 56-year-old coach previously enjoyed spells at Uzbekistani side FC Bunyodkor and Fenerbahce SK. Before that, Zico coached the Japanese national side following a spell at the helm of Kashima Antlers, where he ended his distinguished playing career.
