Markus Babbel Disappointed With Performance Against Rangers

1German outfit Stuttgart dominated play from the beginning in Wednesday’s Champions League game against Rangers, but they allowed the Scots to fight back after the interval and had to settle for a draw after 90 minutes, much to the dismay of head coach Markus Babbel.

“It’s a real pity for the lads,” Babbel told the post-match press conference. “We played very well in the first half but just didn’t get a second goal. What I don’t understand is that we then only reacted and didn’t act ourselves.

“We have one point now and we must go from there. We’ll have to learn from that game as quickly as possible and do things better in Romania. We can’t afford to be so passive, it’s just not how we play.

“The first 45 minutes was very respectable, and if we can build on that over the 90 minutes we will be successful. We’ve got to work hard on increasing our self-confidence.”

  1. Yeh Stuttgart were clearly better first half but after the break it was all Rangers and Rangers thoroughly deserved their point.
