Unirea Urziceni play their first ever Champions League encounter on Wednesday evening, but they have nothing to lose and could cause Sevilla some problems as the team play, according to Ilie Dumitrescu.

The Romanian outfit head to Spain for their debut in the prestigious competition, with coach Dan Petrescu having turned the fortunes of the side around.
Dumitrescu played with the former Chelsea star in the Romania national team and has had a spell with Sevilla, so knows what the visitors to the Sanchez Pizjuan are all about.

“It’s not the same playing in the Romanian league as it is doing it against the two-time UEFA Cup winners,” Dumitrescu was quoted as saying by La Razon.

“[Unirea] have nothing to lose and for the players this is the game of their lives. It’s a unique opportunity as they have never played at this level.”

Petrescu led Unirea to the league title last term and now has them playing on the European stage, which has left Dumitrescu impressed.

“He has created a disciplined squad, humble, ambitious and united, but without experience,” he continued.

“He doesn’t have any players of a high level, but they give everything on the pitch and play very tight.”
