Ancelotti Demands Euro Glory

Carlo Ancelotti says the time is right for Chelsea to win the Champions League.

The Blues boss reckons his side are ready to claim the only major honour to elude them.

Ancelotti lifted the trophy twice as a player with AC Milan and then led the Italian club to European glory on two occasions as coach.

Chelsea begin their campaign with the visit of Porto tomorrow.

And Ancelotti said: “Chelsea have been in the semi-finals most in the last six years.

“They haven’t won it but they have come very close. Two years ago, they were one penalty away from winning it.

“Now the conditions are right for us to try again.”

Ancelotti shrugged off a failed attempt to sign Milan playmaker Andrea Pirlo in the summer.

He said: “We have players to fulfil that role. We’ve tried John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and Deco.

“Pirlo can’t play like Mikel and Mikel can’t play like Pirlo.”
