Chelsea’s Didier Drogba: My Family And I Have Learned To Love London

466px-drogba_chelsea Chelsea striker Didier Drogba says that he and his family are well-settled in London now, despite some problems adjusting to life in England when he first arrived at Stamford Bridge from Olympique Marseille in 2004.

The Ivorian powerhouse is also pleased that his children have adjusted to life in England.

“It was hard for me at that time,” Drogba explained to the Blues’ official website. “People need to adapt to everything when they move to a new culture – the food, the people, the way of life, it’s all different.

“My kids speak English much better than me, much better! Family is really important to me and I wanted to make sure that they were happy because that can be important in terms of the way you perform.”

Drogba made his way into professional football at the relatively late age of 19, after stepping up from amateur football, and he’s aware that he’s something of a late developer.

“It’s funny because it wasn’t until I was 25 that people noticed me at all really,” he mused.

Drogba will hope his good form under Carlo Ancelotti continues this weekend, when the Blues head to the Potteries to face Stoke City. The striker has hit three goals in four Premier League outings already this season, and looks back to his dangerous best after an indifferent previous campaign.
