Saudi Arabia Star Al Qahtani Confident Of Beating Bahrain

aVrsMfoTTuSaudi Arabian striker Yasser Al Qahtani is eager to deliver on a promise made to his nation’s fans and help Saudi Arabia qualify for a fifth consecutive World Cup finals with victory over Bahrain in the second leg of their play-off on Wednesday.

Former AFC Player of the Year Al Qahtani is expecting another tight contest on Wednesday and is set to lead the Saudi Arabia attack alongside Malek Maaz.

“My team-mates and I have promised all the Saudi fans to keep our hopes alive and we will do this and we will battle until we reach South Africa,” said the Al Hilal attacker on a press conference ahead of the game.

“Every time we play at home against Bahrain or any Gulf country, they close all gaps leading to their goal and rely on counter-attacks.”

Saudi Arabia’s Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has the same squad of players at his disposal after Ahmed Ateef recovered from a minor injury, although he could be replaced by Taiseer Al Jassam.

“We have a final chance on Wednesday,” was Peseiro quoted as saying. “I know we have many factors in our favour and I am sure will clinch the victory.”

A goalless draw after 90 minutes on Wednesday would force extra-time and then penalties, although a score draw after normal time would send Bahrain through to face New Zealand as they again seek a first World Cup finals appearance through the play-offs.
