Diego Maradona Jnr: My Dad Won’t Get The Sack From Argentina

Maradona’s son has spoken about his father’s Argentina future, and he believes all the hype is just to sell papers.

Diego Armando Maradona Jnr. believes his father will not get the boot from his role as coach of Argentina.

Questions have been raised over Maradona’s future on the Argentina bench following the 3-1 loss to Brazil on Saturday, a result that leaves qualification for World Cup 2010 uncertain. A number of critics have called for ‘El Pibe de Oro’ to quit – an unlikely scenario according to his son.

“Newspapers have to sell. I think it will be difficult for him to be sacked,” Maradona Jnr. told
Calciomercato.it.

“Anything can happen, but I think Argentina will qualify with no problems. I am convinced that we will win later tonight [Wednesday] against Paraguay.”

Maradona Jnr. saw glimpses of the Brazil match, and he was unimpressed with the Albicelestes, but he had nice words for the opposition.

“I didn’t see it live, but Argentina played badly. Losing to Brazil is never nice, although the Selecao are a stellar side,” he concluded.
