FIFA Confirm Manchester City Investigation Regarding Jeremy Helan

mark-hughes-0013 Manchester City will now face a FIFA charge relating to their conduct in allegedly inducing talented youngster Jeremy Helan away from French club Rennes, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster is also reporting that Rennes lodged their complaint against the Citizens as long ago as last spring, although the club have refuted the allegations, informing BBC Manchester that no inducements were offered to the player, and that the transfer was “totally legal”.

This incident follows hard on the heels of the transfer embargo placed on Chelsea by FIFA after the game’s governing body found that the Londoners signing of Gael Kakuta breached the regulations that apply to the movement of young players.

The Blues are appealing that decision, whilst Manchester United, who were reported to be interested in Helan before he opted to join City, yesterday declared that they were prepared to take legal action to defend themselves, following complaints from Le Havre that Paul Pogba was illegally induced to leave them to join the Red Devils.
