Argentina’s Sergio Aguero To Replace Carlos Tevez In Attack Against Paraguay

‘Kun’ will begin the game from the kick-off.

The Argentine national team returned to training at the AFA headquarters, after the devastating defeat to Brazilon the weekend, and Diego Maradona is already looking for alternatives to confront the match against Paraguay on Wednesday.

First of all, Newell’s Old Boys veteran Rolando Schiavi, 36, will replace Sebastian Dominguez of Velez Sarsfield at centre back. Another of the changes will see Sergio Aguero replace Carlos Tevez in the Argentina attack.

As well as this, Maradona will include Boca Juniors striker Martin Palermo on the bench, which was not the case against Brazil. The ‘Titan’ hasn’t made an appearance for his national team since the Copa America of 1999. During that tournament he missed three penalty kicks in a defeat to Colombia.

Although it has yet to be confirmed, Juan Pablo Carrizo could replace Mariano Andujar in goal. Carrizo conceded six goals in the loss to Bolivia in La Paz in April. Another alternative could be that of Sergio Romero.

Maradona is also likely to modify the tactical scheme of the side. Argentina have struggled against Paraguay in the past, and the coach may opt for a highly defensive approach.
