Arsenal’s Johan Djourou Out For Six Months

Djourou Arsenal defender Johan Djourou is set to miss the next six months of the season after undergoing surgery to cure a long-standing knee problem.

According to skysports.com, the Swiss Football Federation announced the news on its website this afternoon, revealing that Djourou has had an operation on his left knee on the advice of doctors.

The Swiss international will now not feature again until 2010 at the earliest, leaving Arsenal short of options at the back.

Whilst not a regular for the north Londoners, Djourou is an important member of Arsene Wenger’s squad, particularly following the departure of Kolo Toure to Manchester City.

First choice pairing William Gallas and new signing Thomas Vermaelen have impressed this season, but Djourou’s injury leaves Arsenal short of options at the back and they will be hoping the duo remain fit.
