Bayern: Ribery Not Leaving Next Summer

Bayern Munich have denied reports they have agreed a deal to sell Franck Ribery to Real Madrid next summer.

The France winger was linked with a £40million switch to the Bernabeu earlier this summer but the German side rejected Real’s advances.

Chelsea were also linked with a move for the 26-year-old French international.

However, the German giants have again insisted the winger is staying put.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “We haven’t made an agreement with Real Madrid about transferring Franck Ribery in the summer of 2010.

“This is talk which has come from Spain and France but we will deny it because it’s false.

“Nobody believed us back in June when we said Franck wasn’t leaving, but we kept our word.

“He will not leave next year either.”

Ribery himself admits he is struggling to adapt to life under new coach Luis van Gaal, who took over as Bayern boss in July.

He said: “It’s the first time that I haven’t really felt close to a coach. There’s not much feeling between us at all.

“Our relationship is professional. It was totally different with Ottmar Hitzfeld, for example.

“He was a real joy to work with and the best coach I’ve known at Bayern.”
