OFFICIAL: Manuele Blasi Joins Palermo On Loan From Napoli

Blasi

As the end of the transfer market loomed inexorably closer, many Italian clubs were working hard to get that one last player to strengthen their squads in key areas.

Palermo were one of them, and tonight the Rosanero completed the signing of former Juventus midfielder Manuele Blasi, who arrived from Napoli on a loan deal with the right to purchase, as announced by Palermo’s official website IlPalermoCalcio.it.

The agreement between the two clubs had already been found in the early hours of the afternoon,  but the player had initially turned down the move, preferring to play for a spot in Napoli’s first team. However, the 29-year-old was subsequently persuaded to accept the transfer to Palermo.

Blasi joined Juventus in 2002 from Perugia, but only started playing for the Bianconeri after coach Fabio Capello joined the club in 2004, becoming a regular in the team that won two consecutive Scudetti, which were later revoked by the Calciopoli scandal.

During this time he also briefly played with the Italian national team.
