It Would Be Disastrous If This Real Madrid Team Won Nothing – Iker Casillas

iker_casillas_abatido_431Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas says it would be disastrous for his side to fail to capture a trophy but he admitted to Marca that anything can happen in football.

“It would be a disaster to not win something with this team this season,” Casillas declared.

“Anything can happen though. Four or five years ago we had this uncomfortable situation where we played good football for six months, but failed to win anything.

“Results are what matters,” added the 28-year-old, who enters his eleventh straight season as first choice ‘keeper at the Bernabeu.

When asked whether he would prefer to win the Primera Division, UEFA Champions League or the World Cup in 2010, Casillas said it would be difficult to pick.

He added, “I don’t know what to say. I’ll stick with them all,” said the Spain stopper, who has amassed 96 caps for his country.

He also admitted that rivals Barcelona’s recent success gives him a “healthy envy”, and that he hopes to lift “as many, or more trophies than Barca this year.”
