UEFA Charge Arsenal Striker Eduardo For Simulation Against Celtic

eduardodasilvaThe governing body for European football have retrospectively charged the Brazilian-born Croatia international with deceiving the referee.

UEFA have taken retrospective action with regard to Eduardo da Silva’s apparent simulation during Arsenal’s successful Champions League play-off clash against Celtic, as confirmed on the organisation’s official website.

The ‘Crozilian’ was perceived to be guilty of simulation when Artur Boruc rushed from his line in order to claim a ball, and Eduardo fell to the ground feigning contact. 

The referee, though, awarded the Gunners with a penalty, which Eduardo duly scored from, sparking a 3-1 win and a 5-1 aggregate triumph.

Arsenal’s midweek win ensured they progressed to the group stages of the tournament. The draw of which was made in Monaco yesterday.

The north London outfit have been grouped with Standard Liege, AZ Alkmaar, and Olympiakos. 

The club are yet to make an official comment regarding the sanctions imposed upon their prolific striker.
