Monaco Set For Eidur Gudjohnsen Talks

eidur-gudjohnsen-05 Eidur Gudjohnsen may not want to leave Barcelona, but Monaco hope to persuade him otherwise.

Monaco are set to hold talks with Eidur Gudjohnsen about a move to the club before and after Barcelona’s European Super Cup appearance in the principality, according to a report.

The Icelandic international has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, but is reluctant to leave unless tempted by an offer that excites him.

Gudjohnsen knows that he will play a bit-part role if he turns down all interested parties and chooses to remain at Barcelona, and is set to hear what choices he has,
L’Equipe state.

On Friday Monaco will attempt to persuade the striker-turned-attacking midfielder that they can offer him regular football and the lifestyle to prise him away from Catalunya.

West Ham United are also in the frame, but they are only keen to take the 30-year-old on loan because they cannot match the wages that he is currently on at Barca.

Monaco would be willing to make his move permanent and negotiations are scheduled for the Blaugrana’s visit for the European Super Cup final, when they take on Shakhtar Donetsk.
