Inter Will Not Increase Contract Offer To Real’s Sneijder

Wesley_SneijderWesley Sneijder’s move from Real Madrid to Inter is on the edge of a knife as the Italians are refusing to bow to the Dutchman’s contractual demands.

On Monday, Sneijder yet again insisted that he wants to stay with Real Madrid, attempting flattery to placate Florentino Perez as he declared, “This is the best club in the world, even if they want to transfer me. My intention is to continue.”

Reports from Italy are suggesting today that after negotiating with Sneijder’s agent, Soren Lerby, late into the night, Inter are no closer to agreeing a deal with the 25-year-old.

Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti has established an agreement with los Merengues over a price, which La Gazzetta dello Sport claims to be €15m, rising to €18m depending on performances.

However, Inter are standing firm on their offer of €3.5m-per-year to the former Ajax midfielder, who is demanding an annual salary of €4m.

Negotiations between the Italian champions, Sneijder and Lerby will continue today, but Inter’s technical director, Marco Branca, has already sounded out two alternatives if an agreement cannot be reached by Tuesday night.

On Sunday night, Branca sat down with Herminio Menendez, agent of Roma’s Julio Baptista, while the director has also thrown the name of Ariel Ibagaza into the ring. The 32-year-old, currently at Villarreal, is a former Mallorca team-mate of Samuel Eto’o.
