Joleon Lescott Arrives At Manchester City For Medical

Joleon Lescott’s protracted £24 million move from Everton to Manchester City could be finalised imminently as the defender has arrived at Eastlands in order to undergo a routine medical check prior to the switch being rendered official.

Sky Sports sources confirmed the England international’s presence in Manchester, and the transfer is speculated to make Lescott, 27, £80,000 per week richer.

City have made no secret of their desire to sign Lescott, after it was apparent that primary target John Terry would be staying with Chelsea, the club that schooled him.

Lescott, formerly of Wolverhampton Wanderers, is a versatile defender who can also play at left-back as well as in the middle, and is expected to line-up next to fellow summer recruit Kolo Toure in the centre of defence.

Everton boss David Moyes now has just over one week left, before the transfer window temporarily shuts, to find a replacement, with Philippe Senderos of Arsenal and Sylvain Distin of Portsmouth both possible options for the Scotsman, although reports last week claimed that the Toffees were already in negotiations with Newcastle United for England Under-21 star Steven Taylor.
