Wenger Slams Spanish Clubs For Transfer Tactics Involving Arsenal’s Fabregas

_40856659_wenger300Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reacted angrily to the escalating rumours in the world’s press that Gunners captain Francesc Fabregas has a concrete agreement to join treble-winning Barcelona next summer.

A €35 million (£30m) switch, set for the end of the season, had been reported by El Mundo Deportivo, but Wenger – speaking at a press conference today – was at odds explaining the report, claiming that he would quit the club if such a scenario was to arise.

Furthermore, the Frenchman questioned the transfer tactics of Spanish football clubs, in particular Barcelona, intimating that they are more concerned with politics than they are with sport.

“The day I agree to sell a player one year in advance, I will not be in this job any more,” said Wenger matter-of-factly.

“It does not help football and does not help people to focus on their job and is sometimes destabilising.

“The way Spanish clubs are run is more political than sport orientated.

“How much does that harm other clubs? It is difficult to measure.”

Fabregas is not the only Arsenal player to be admired by the European champions, as Barca have also been interested in Emmanuel Eboue.
